IgM Paraproteinemia and Autoimmune Peripheral Neuropathy

Abstract

To the Editor: We were interested to read the article by Latov et al. in the September 11 issue of the Journal ¹ on antimyelin antibodies associated with an IgM paraproteinemia and peripheral neuropathy. We have reported seven cases of benign IgM paraproteinemia,² and we have studied another six patients since then (unpublished data). They all presented clinically with a history of sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy occurring 1.5 to 14 years before the discovery of paraproteinemia.
