IgM Paraproteinemia and Autoimmune Peripheral Neuropathy

Abstract
To the Editor: We were interested to read the article by Latov et al. in the September 11 issue of the Journal 1 on antimyelin antibodies associated with an IgM paraproteinemia and peripheral neuropathy. We have reported seven cases of benign IgM paraproteinemia,2 and we have studied another six patients since then (unpublished data). They all presented clinically with a history of sensorimotor peripheral neuropathy occurring 1.5 to 14 years before the discovery of paraproteinemia.
