Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no The objectives are as follows: To determine the overall effectiveness and safety of dexmedetomidine for sedation and analgesia in newborn infants receiving mechanical ventilation compared with other non-opioids, opioids or placebo. We will perform subgroup analyses according to method of dexmedetomidine administration; dose of dexmedetomidine; age of initiation of dexmedetomidine; indication for mechanical ventilation; gestational age; and duration of treatment.
