Abstract
Because of the benefit of calcium on bone health,1 dietary guidance has emphasized intakes of both calcium and dairy food. For example, the Institute of Medicine recommends 1200 mg/d of calcium for adults aged 50 years and older,1 and the 2005 dietary guidelines for Americans2 recommend 3 cups per day of fat-free or low-fat dairy food. Keywords
