Abstract
The protein constituents of the livetin fraction of hen''s-egg yolk have been studied. Livetin proteins have been identified with serum proteins by means of immunoelectrophoresis, starch-gel electrophoresis and comparison of peptide patterns. [alpha]-Livetin has been identified as serum albumin. [beta]-Livetin has been identified as an [alpha]2-glycoprotein with a sedimentation coefficient of 2.9s. Gamma-Livetin has been identified as serum gamma-globulin. Immunoelectrophoresis indicated the presence of transferrin in livetin. Ovalbumin was not detected in livetin.
