Short-term Digital Surface Microscopic Monitoring of Atypical or Changing Melanocytic Lesions

Abstract
BECAUSE OF the suboptimal diagnostic accuracy of melanoma at both the specialist and primary care physician level, instrumental methods have been developed to improve clinical accuracy. Surface microscopy (dermatoscopy, oil epiluminescence microscopy, and dermoscopy) greatly increases the morphologic features visualized in pigmented skin lesions and has been shown to increase the diagnostic accuracy of nearly all pigmented lesions, including melanoma.1
