Simultaneous modeling of impedance and radiation pattern antenna for UWB pulse modulation

Abstract
This paper presents antenna modeling for UWB applications. Indeed, the antenna is the source of possible distortions on both matching and radiation patterns. So this paper proposes a model for the input impedance and a model to give a representation of the radiation pattern. The input impedance equivalent circuit is composed of parallel RLC resonator cells in series. All the parameters can be calculated and allow us to obtain a good interpolation of the complex impedance. The radiation pattern gain can be represented by the sum of a proposed function. The phase center has to be determined to complement this model. These two models can be used consecutively to observe the distortion of pulses transmitted through an antenna and so characterize the antenna concerning its qualities for UWB transmissions.
