Focal Acantholytic Dyskeratosis

Abstract

The histologic features traditionally associated with Darier's disease were found in a variety of other conditions. These histologic changes occurred in (1) single lesions that were (a) clinically inapparent, (b) papular, or (c) nodular, and in (2) multiple lesions that were (a) persistent or (b) evanescent. The term "focal acantholytic dyskeratosis" describes the dominant histologic features and, like the designation "epidermolytic hyperkeratosis," denotes a distinctive histologic pattern with numerous clinical expressions.
