Abstract
PARKINSON DISEASE (PD) is a degenerative neurological disorder that is characterized by resting tremor, slowness of movement, and muscular rigidity. Parkinson disease affects approximately 1% of Americans older than 65 years.1 The cardinal pathological features of PD are loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta and the presence of Lewy bodies in neurons in the substantia nigra and extranigral regions of the brain.2,3
