Linear Relationship for Heavy-Ion Pulse Heights in Alkali Halides

Abstract
It has been found that the total scintillation light from alkali halides produced by stopping energetic ions with 2<Z<20 can be described by a single linear function of E032A12Z23, where E0 is the initial energy, and A and Z are the mass number and charge of the incident particle, respectively. Measurements in CsI(Tl) and NaI(Tl) are shown and a brief discussion of the implications of this observation is given.
