Abstract
Photochromic inactive dithienylethene derivatives appended with 3- or 5-dimesitylboryl-2,2'-bithiophene have been synthesized. Upon fluoride ion-binding, the photochromic reactivity is "unlocked", displaying a novel gated photochromic property. Keywords
