Abstract
A new method is described for the nondestructive measurement of electric field and space‐charge distributions inside solid or liquid insulators by using a nonstructured acoustic pulse. The integral equation is derived for the response of the dielectric during propagation of an acoustic pulse and some acoustic measurements of electric fields and space charge inside transformer oil and polymethylmethacrylate plastic are described. Keywords
