Abstract
The luminescence properties of SnSO4 and BaSO4–Sn2+ are reported and discussed. At low temperatures both compounds show Sn2+ luminescence. In SnSO4 energy transfer to defect centres occurs at higher temperatures. A comparison is made with the luminescence of related systems. Keywords
