Suppression of hay fever symptoms with intranasal dexamethasone aerosol

Abstract
Dexamethasone phosphate aerosol was tried intranasally in a dose of 1 mg. daily in 40 patients with seasonal ragweed hay fever, with the use of a double blind crossover plan of study. By three methods of evaluation applied independently, significant improvement of hay fever symptoms was obtained in about 75 per cent of patients. No steroid side effects were observed; some patients complained of nasal irritation immediately after spraying.
