Microwave and Infrared Measurements on HCN and DCN: Observations on l-Type Resonance Doublets

Abstract

Microwave measurements have been made on the direct doublet splittings (ΔJ=0 transitions) of the 01¹0, 02²0, 03¹0, and 03³0 levels of DCN and the 01¹0 and 02²0 levels of HCN. The sensitivity of the Δ and φ level splittings to certain vibrational and rotational constants enables us to obtain new values for those constants. New infrared measurements are given for ν₁, 3ν₂¹, 4ν₂⁰—ν₂¹, and 4ν₂²—ν₂¹ of HCN.
