Lanthanide co-ordination frameworks of 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide

Abstract

Metal–ligand co-ordination frameworks of 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide (L) have been prepared; {[Sm(L)₂- (NO₃)₃]·0.5H₂O}_∞ 1, {[Er₂(L)₃(NO₃)₆]·2 CH₃OH}_∞ 2; 1 shows rare two-fold interpenetrating three-dimensional CdSO₄-like nets, and 2 shows an unprecedented two-dimensional 4.8² network.
