The resistance of concrete pumped through pipelines

Abstract
Summary The lack of adequate data made necessary the investigation of the basic mechanics of concrete pumping. Unsaturated materials pass stresses by inter-particle contact and give rise on commencement of movement to a pressure build-up which in a non-tapering duct is exponential with distance pumped. Adequate saturation by water/cement paste reduces the resistance to a favourable linear type, subject to increase with velocity, but independent of operating pressure.
