Sequencing aerobic batch reactor treatment of milking parlour wastewater

Abstract
A pilot scale 200-litre aerobic sequencing batch reactor system was used to treat 252 to 378 litres day−1 of milking parlour wastewater. Timing operations of the pumps in the system were microprocessor controlled. For the 8-month period of operation, the pilot-scale unit had average treatment efficiencies of 86·5% for BOD removal, 90·8%for Suspended Solids removal and 61·8f for total nitrogen reduction.
