Abstract
Sex is a fundamental life force and may have profound effects on our behavior. It has become increasingly clear that both sex and sex hormones may modulate and alter disease in subtle yet very important ways. Sex is used by advertisers to influence our choice of automobiles and jeans; sex hormones may be used to alter the expression of our genes.According to two reports in this issue of the Journal, the impeded androgenic hormone danazol has been successfully used in the therapy of two diseases that were not previously thought to be affected by sex hormones.
