It depicts facts relating to the fieldduring the 17th–19th century and after reestablishment of independence. Some data about the foundation of specializedservices of coloproctology, the first major operations and legalisation of speciality are presented as well. The paper reviewsthe development of the Society of Coloproctology since its the establishment in 1991. All dissertations and major textbookspublished on coloproctology in Lithuania are presented.
