Spontaneous Prostate Adenocarcinomas in Aged Germfree Wistar Rats2

Abstract

Aged germfree Wistar rats developed benign tumors of the endocrine glands and/or their target organs. As the animals aged beyond 30 months, they had increasing numbers of endocrine tumors with some evidence of malignant transformation. Four spontaneousadenocarcinomas of the prostate, 3 with metastases and leukemoid reactions, were described.
