Why the Entropy of a Black Hole isA/4

Abstract

The paper analyzes the relation between Bekenstein-Hawking entropy $S^{\mathrm{BH}}$ of a black hole and the statistical-mechanical entropy $S^{\mathrm{SM}}$ defined by counting its internal degrees of freedom. The mechanism explaining universality of $S^{\mathrm{BH}}$ is proposed.
