Women as managers

Abstract
Women managers are still overrepresented in low-level, low-status positions. Many women are in limited staff roles, managing functions, not people. Few hold top management jobs in American organizations. Female-dominated professions, such as dietetics, continue to question the need for career advancement and higher salaries. Male and female working styles may differ, and several studies are examined. A comparison of dietitian and other health professional leadership development is presented. Two effective strategies to develop better leadership skills are proposed.
