Abstract
A bright optical soliton described by a nonlinear Schrödinger equation can survive even in a positive dispersion region as long as the average dispersion has a negative value. This allows us to combine fibres with large positive and large negative dispersion, which in turn will enable us to introduce solitons in a commercial system. Keywords
