Abstract
The far ir absorption spectra of CO in Ar in the gas and liquid phases and the rotovibrational spectrum of CO in Ar and N2 in the liquid phase have been measured; the value of the electric quadrupole moment is obtained. A moment analysis is done of the dipolar part of the spectrum, obtaining the value of the torque in the different cases. A long time exponential decay of the dipolar correlation function extracted from the rotovibrational spectrum of CO in liquid Ar is observed. Keywords
