Abstract
Microscopic simulation is used to clarify the status of stochastic theoriesof homogeneous chemical systems operating in the multiple steady state region. The results demonstrate the failure of the Langevin approach, but showexcellent agreement with the master equation formulation.05.40+j, 05.90+m, 47.20.Ky, 82.20.WtTypeset using REVTEXI. INTRODUCTIONIt is by now well established that chemical systems can exhibit a variety of complexphenomena such as a multiplicity of states,...Keywords
