Malignant Tumors of the Major Salivary Glands

Abstract
Data accumulated over twenty-one years indicate that malignant epithelial tumors of the major salivary glands can be permanently controlled by irradiation. Postoperative irradiation is recommended whenever there is risk of residual disease; doses of 6,000 rads in five to six weeks may be given with limited morbidity. Analysis of the treatment failures shows no statistically significant difference among the various histological tumor types.
