Abstract
This review is divided into two parts. The first describes papers published in the review period that look at the effects of the socioeconomic status, the workplace, homelessness, rural living and natural disasters on some aspects of substance misuse behaviour and access to treatment. The second part reviews papers published on ways of describing substance misuse in different cultural groups, and then goes on to look at papers published examining substance misuse in native Americans, Hispanic communities in the United States, and other cultural groups.
