Segmented MR images for brain attenuation correction in PET

Abstract
We propose a method to calculate brain attenuation correction factors (ACF) for quantitative PET using MRI data in clinical protocols that require both modalities. In that case the elimination of the transmission scan will simplify the protocol and reduce the patient dose while preserving the accurate quantification. Moreover possible mispositioning between transmission and emission acquisitions, which is not usually accounted for, may be avoided.
