Natural resources and aquaculture: Emerging policy issues in the north central states

Abstract
If the aquaculture industry is to expand in the north central region of the United States in the next few years, it must deal with several important policy issues. These interrelated issues include the following: regulatory jurisdiction, control of predators, effluent regulation, introduction of nonnative species, product quality and safety, and definition of aquaculture as agriculture. A unified permit process is suggested.
