Rocking Phenomenon of Jones' Tube in Place

Abstract

• A Pyrex Jones' tube in normal position rocks simultaneously with eyelid motion. Anterior rhinoscopy shows this phenomenon. To prevent the tube's repeated submergence in tissues, the tube should be long enough to touch the nasal septum as it rocks. It will not interfere with the tear drainage except in an infection or allergy of the upper respiratory tract.
