Abstract
The time-dependent behaviour of geosynthetics is characterised by creep and relaxation curves. The isochronous curves derived from creep results are sometimes used to predict the relaxation behaviour of geosynthetics. The validity and precision of such an approach are investigated in this paper. Using experimental data from in-isolation creep and relaxation tests performed on selected types of geotextile, the validity and limitations of using creep isochronous curves to predict relaxation response of these materials have been investigated. The conclusions are presented in the paper. Keywords
