Spectrophotometric estimation of Lomefloxacin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical dosage form

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the estimation of lomefloxacin hydrochloride in its marketed formulations. The method is based on the reaction between the drug and the dichlone, in the presence of crotonaldehyde in dimethylsulfoxide, which produces a blue chromogen with absorption maximum at 645 nm.
