Male-Female Differences in the Association of Managerial Style and Personal Values

Abstract
We investigated the relationship between Rokeach's terminal and instrumental values and six managerial styles measured by McClelland's Managerial Style Questionnaire among 130 male and 125 female managers in the southeastern United States. Instrumental values were clearly linked with managerial styles but in substantially different ways for men and women. The link between terminal values and managerial style was less common but also showed gender differences. Managerial style was not affected by gender.
