The New Public Trial in the Works by F. M. Dostoyevsky

Abstract
The article reviews the history of the re-edition of N. S. Leskov's collection The Mirror of the Life of the True Disciple of Christ, first published in 1816. The data from the "Minutes of the Meetings of the Academic Committee of the Ministry of National Education" that the writer collaborated with, show how his engagement in the reviewing of books "for popular reading" shaped his requirements for religious and philosophical collections and led to his involvement in editorial and publishing activities.
