Cloud-based Mobile Web Service Discovery framework with semantic matchmaking approach

Abstract
The discovery process has become an important task in the web service life cycle as the number of Mobile Web Services (MWS) has increased nowadays. However, discovering relevant MWS that can match a service request with the service offered has remained a major hindrance. The challenges are concerning the web service discovery with the limitation of mobile devices related to performance. On the other hand, cloud computing with its unlimited computing resource is a promising approach to bootstrap the MWS discovery. It provides virtualized computing resources as a service and can build bridges between mobile devices as a computing interface, and the core infrastructure with virtualized computing resources. This paper proposed CMDis, an enhancement of cloud-based MWS discovery framework, with semantic-based matchmaking approach. In our work, semantic lightweight web service descriptions were used with a REST-based architecture. Accordingly, a preliminary prototype was developed on android-based to evaluate the applicability of the framework.
