HEAT TRANSFER AUGMENTATION IN AN ANNULUS WITH INTERRUPTED AXIAL FINS

Abstract
Results of an experimental study to determine the heat transfer augmentation with interrupted, axial fins on the outer surface of the inner pipe in a double pipe heat exchanger are reported. Correlation for friction factor and Nusselt numbers with Reynolds number are presented. In arriving at the correlations, due to the asymmetrical heating, the use of different characteristic lengths for Reynolds number and Nusselt number is explored.
