The effect of intra-link power perturbations on channel performance

Abstract

87,040 link realisations were used to experimentally investigate the impact on system outage when there is uncertainty in the power profile for a 10×100 km optical link. Probabilistic link design reveals a lower optimum launch power that reduces the probability of outage.
