Abstract
Microaerobic bacteria were isolated from a baboon with pancreatic islet amyloidosis and hepatitis. Phenotypic and molecular analyses identified two distinct helicobacters. Analyses of 16S rRNA demonstrated ‘Helicobacter macacae’ in the ileum and liver, and Helicobacter cinaedi in the colon. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first report describing the isolation of enterohepatic Helicobacter species from a baboon. Keywords
