Physical Activity and Male Colorectal Cancer Survival

Abstract
Despite appreciable advances in screening and treatment of colorectal cancer, more than 148 000 individuals in the United States will be newly diagnosed as having colorectal cancer each year, and almost 50 000 annually will die of the disease.1 A host of modifiable factors have been associated with influencing the likelihood of developing the disease.2 A recent meta-analysis3 of 52 observational studies found an inverse relationship between physical activity and colon cancer development, with an overall relative risk of 0.76 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.72-0.81).
