Abstract
This paper describes the basic methodology used by San Diego Gas & Electric Company to determine the contribution to system reliability made by various resource alternatives. In particular, this method has been used to evaluate the extent to which load management in the form of air conditioner cycling can be depended on to reduce system load. These results were included in an economic analysis that determined that continued support of SDG&E's residential air conditioner cycling program (PEAKSHIFT) was not cost effective. Keywords
