Dermatologic Terms in the Onomasticon of Julius Pollux

Abstract

In the second century C.E., the Greco-Roman rhetorician Julius Pollux compiled lists of technical terms in Attic Greek pertaining to many specialized topics, including dermatology. This article reproduces his catalogue of almost 100 terms referring to cutaneous and mucosal lesions and translates his explanatory comments into English.
