Abstract
Second-harmonic generation experiments show that large optical nonlinearities are associated with isocyclic and heterocyclic organic groups. The nonlinearities in one compound of the pyrimidine family, 5-Nitrouracil, are estimated to be as large as in barium-sodium niobate.Keywords
