Abstract
We study restrictions for the standard model coming from triviality. The answer depends on the embedding scale Λ where new physics appears. We obtain upper bounds for the Higgs mass and for the top mass. Contrary to some papers we find larger ranges of allowed masses for plausible embedding scales. The upper bound for the Higgs mass decreases with Λ. The maximum Higgs mass appears to be ≃1 TeV at Λ≃1 TeV.
