Abstract
The general formula for the surface-wave spectrum of an incompressible viscoelastic liquid of arbitrary depth is derived and discussed for several limiting cases. For liquids of high viscosity and long stress relaxation time, the formula includes the contribution of the elastic response at high frequencies, which is not obtained in the lubrication approximation for the shallow limit. Keywords
