Abstract
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a leading cause of preventable childhood blindness.1-3 Most cases of ROP are mild and regress spontaneously; however, severe ROP can lead to retinal detachment and permanent vision loss. Currently, birth weight (BW) and gestational age (GA) are used as selection criteria to examine infants for treatable disease4; postnatal factors that may help to predict or prevent ROP are not considered. Retinopathy of prematurity is diagnosed only later in the disease process by serial ophthalmoscopic examinations. Keywords
