External costs of air pollution: case study and results for transport between Paris and Lyon

Abstract
We report results for the external costs of air pollution, taking the case of road transport between Paris and Lyon. This project is part of the ExternE program of the European Commission and uses the methodology of Impact Pathway Analysis whose principal steps are emission of pollutants, atmospheric dispersion, exposure-response functions, and economic valuation. The emissions are calculated for typical cars according to the driving conditions of this trip. The dispersion is calculated by combining two software packages ROADPOL, a Gaussian plume model for the local range (
