Studies on the removal of some toxic metal ions from aqueous solutions and industrial waste. Part I (Removal of lead and cadmium by hydrous iron and aluminium oxide)

Abstract
The adsorption of two metal ions Pb2+ and Cd2+ has been observed on hydrous aluminium and iron oxide which are prepared and characterized by well known methods. Hydrous ferric oxide exhibits bettwr sorption capacity for the metal ions. The uptake of lead is much higher than cadmiua and follows Langmuir model. Thermodynamic parameters of the process have been estimated by kinetic measurements which also provide mechanistic information.
