Predictions of Induced Air Flows in Hollow Cone Sprays

Abstract
The problem of hydrodynamic interaction between a hollow cone spray and the encompassing unbounded fluid has been formulated in terms of a set of partial and a set of ordinary differential equations for the fluid and the spray respectively. These equations have been solved by adapting an existing numerical solution procedure to predict the flow patterns and the trajectories of individual particles for the practical range of operating conditions. The predictions have been found to agree well with the experimental data available in the literature.
