Adrenocorticotropin-Independent Hypercortisolemia and Testicular Tumors in a Patient with a Pituitary Tumor and Gigantism

Abstract
A patient is presented with a new clinical syndrome of bilateral testicular tumors and a hGH-secreting pituitary tumor associated with intermittent and extreme elevations in serum and urine cortisol. Plasma ACTH was repeatedly undetectable during the hypercortisolemia, despite the fact that urinary free cortisol levels dropped to undetectable limits after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy.
