Broad Ligament Serous Tumor of Low Malignant Potential

Abstract
A papillary serous tumor of borderline malignancy (serous tumor of low malignant potential) was identified in the broad ligament of a 19-year-old woman. The tumor did not involve fallopian tube or ovary. Cysts and overt malignant tumors of the broad ligament have been previously reported; however, to our knowledge none have been identified as borderline malignant tumors. The müllerian origin of this tumor is discussed. Borderline lesions should be recognized because the prognosis differs from that of “true” carcinomas. Furthermore, borderline tumors must be separated from definite cancers if meaningful data about therapy are to be obtained.
